THE CAREERS AND HIGHER EDUCATION MAGAZINE FROM THE INSPIRING FUTURES FOUNDATION

Summer 2009
Riding the Recession
Welcome to the summer!

It’s our favourite time of year. Exams are over, the sun's shining (fingers crossed), school's nearly finished and there's 8 weeks of festivals and chilling out on the way...

Time for a little rest and relaxation after all that hard work and those exams! How were they? How did you do? Hopefully it went well but if not, don't fret, we've a handy new guide in our 'Study' section on what to do if your results are not quite what you expected.

Over the summer you’ll be taking plenty of pictures, posting them to blogs and twittering away to your friends. But how safe is the new social networking craze and could you be committing career suicide with your personal photos on your profile? In this term's 'Work' section we've a new guide on how to keep your social life private online and look squeaky clean to any potential employer.

Riding the Recession
What springs into mind if someone says “how about a job in the Nuclear industry”? Do you think Homer Simpson, meltdowns or men in white coats? I bet you don’t think 'great' prospects and a well paid career in engineering? Take a look at this term's 'Career' feature on the Nuclear industry, you may be surprised the amount of opportunity there is.

That’s about it from me but as always if you want to send in pictures or write for us then please email. Whatever you do have a great summer and fingers crossed for lots of lazy hot sunny days...

Richard
